Yes, I guess he is a late bloomer, which is OK. I hatched him the January 27, so he is coming 7 months old. he always made me think he was a hen....but every day he gets more masculine. Plus he also gets more red in the comb. Here is a pic of his back, lot of red and little black. I am...

Well, as usual I jumped the gun, today while feeding I saw Rojo breed a hen, he was promptly knocked around by Domino, but never the less, he is for sure a HE and for sure knows it! It remains to be proven if he produces chicks. BTW any comments on him? I like him, he sure is a bright Red and...

I ask about the wattles because I know there is a connection to fertility linked to the condition of the comb. I wonder if the lack of big strong wattles might mean he is not very fertile if at all??? He is a nice boy, very gentle and he gets bossed around by Domino, the roo he shares the pen...

Just thought I'd share this little bunch of surprise chicks with you all. They are sired by Domino a Calico Cochin Bantam and from my Paint Silkie hen. A Big Blue Wyandotte hatched them! Looks like the one in front is showing off his FIVE toes just to try and confuse me. Should be mighty...

Hi, Thank you, I am of course wanting the MF color, but it's still fun to get these "other" colors. Here is one of my pullets that didn't quit make it... My question is...if I want to use one of the boys on this kind of hen which one to use? The darkest ? Or none of them? I'd like MF but all...

Thanks for the reply, I liked the dark one best from the very beginning, besides he is so super sweet and gentle. Neglected to look at the wings close, sometimes a picture helps a lot when studying a bird. I appreciate you pointing that out to me. They are just pets and I enjoy looking at them...

They are lovely! I sure do like them! But you can see what I mean I think, your other rooster is a whole different pattern/color. I honestly can't decide which I like the best but probably I like the lighter colored one. Is one preferred over the other as far as you are concerned?

Question please...the Mottled Cochin color. is there a certain pattern to shoot for? I mean do they need to be black/ or dark birds with white tips or black and white random. More white than black or more black than white? The rooster just pictured is gorgeous, just love him but I have seen...
