I have about 16 ft for 11 chickens (2 roos + hens, but one's a banty).
I have 2 pallet ... IDK what they're called, I've been calling them "ribs", the main bars that the slats are attached to. Anyway, I have two of those at slightly different heights going diagonally across my hen house.

My chickens sleep on the roost when they're in the hen house, but if I let them out, they stubbornly sleep on their old coop, which they didn't even like to begin with.
I feel your pain. lol
Does light really help bring them out of molt or lay in spite of it or.... I'm not sure what I'm asking.
The light thing and the molt thing don't seem to have anything to do with each other if I understand them correctly, which I may not.
As I understand it, when they molt, they just don't lay...

<do chickens LICK?>...
I'm having the exact same problem. I have 3 white leghorns and 4 gold comets and I KNOW FOR SURE that at least two of each were laying, then I had to keep them cooped b/c of a fox and now I'm down to getting only one white egg almost every day (I think we're down to five a week, if that).
I...
I saw something on the site about breaking broodiness. I know they don't lay when they're broody (they can only handle raising so many chicks at one time, so.... stands to reason, they'd stop reproducing/laying when they're mom-ing).
Maybe you could alternatively, look in the swap section for...
