    Only some roosters are like that. A good rooster isn't. You should replace your rooster if he is being that hard on your girls, or separate him for a while.

    I didn't mean the living conditions aren't ideal, I meant ten hens for two roosters isn't the ideal number but would work. Sorry if that didn't come through clear! The enclosure you have them in now looks fine to me as a temporary setup.

    And by the way - if you can have twelve chickens, two roosters and ten hens would be fine. If they start fighting you might want to rehome one eventually, but I think two would work though it isn't the ideal number of hens. And welcome to BYC!
