Deb, I saw a program on TV where a HUGE salt water distillery had been built where they were turning the salt water into clean drinking water and supplying drinking water to a lot of people. Seems like this was in a desert somewhere. Why doesn't California do something like that?

I'd like to learn about aquaponics. That's on my list of things to do. Some people I know were starting tobacco plants using aquaponics back in the 80's.

Funny, just before I came in the house and started reading this thread today I had got an old 100 gallon stock water tank (Rubbermaid) and put it under the corner of my coop/run metal roof where most of the water runs off. I plan to put another one the other side. I'm hoping to use that to water...

Oh yeah I have seen algae get out of hand before. One time we had a red algae going on so I had the water tested. They SAID they didn't find anything. What scares me with ponds and eating the fish out of them and all ground water is all the "cides" being used on crops and everywhere else.
