I live in southern CA now and I get to listen to hummies any time of the day (except night ofc) I love waking up to them in the mornings and whenever I walk anywhere on campus. Hearing them always makes me happy and I enjoy watching them play and fly around. :love

Actually I don’t think I’ve seen any rubies where I live, we usually get Anna’s, black-chins, Allens, rufous’s, and Costa’s

Unfortunately not, I don't have a permit to band them or know anyone.

They love flowers in the shape of trumpets. We planted a few by our feeders and they enjoy feeding on them when they're in full bloom.

Poor boy was probably killed in a fight.

A young male hummingbird visited the miel! You can see his neck feathers still coming in..

I’ve had hummers all year round, though never experiencing a frenzy as some like to come by here and there. One likes to stick around and hog all the miel to himself. They usually become active at dusk and three to four males in particular like battling it out in the yard over the feeder.
