Tomorrow I will start gathering supplies to make this split if there isn’t much progress and it’s just continuing to cause her discomfort when we assess and work on it. Thank you.
So, you guys have to forgive me, I am ignorant with the terms associated with bumblefoot. There were definitely 2 scabs; the initial big one we soaked and removed that had some white stuck to it, I think that is what is called a “kernel”, yes?
Then there was a tiny second scab near it that we...
Was thinking about that today. It seems like a helpful tool. If we keep going as we are without any progress I will definitely do it. I’m hopeful we can get more to come to the surface and work out.
Almost got the pus out, it was so hard to put her through pain tho :hitwe soaked and i removed the scab a bit and squeezed and i can see the white solid matter come to the surface about to pop out but she shakes and closes her eyes and i just die a little inside. I feel terrible! I know it needs...
Thanks for the encouragement! I was thinking I would have to repeat soaking and surgery based on the swelling hanging around, too. Planning on doing that starting tomorrow and continuing all weekend when I have help to hold her during the foot exam/pus removal part. I’ll keep at it!
No matter how much we search up on something there’s nothing to prepare us for it with our birds. It never helps that they hide things so easily, either. So thanks for taking a look and the reassurance 🙂 I’ll remain diligent and (try to be) patient!
I’m terrible at judging this bumblefoot. Is this what we want to see? Or is it just reforming a plug that I’ll have to soak out again? Treated 2 days with Neosporin and PRID and rewrapping. Still a little swollen between the toes, but less than before.
Wow I just read through that thread, how terrible. I will be very diligent about the wrapping. Do you do anything for the pain before digging around? I felt terrible when I did a little digging and she started closing her eyes and bowing her head as they do when they don’t feel good. I...
People rave about Prid and when I put together my chicken first aid kit I tried to get it at Walmart with no luck. I am kicking myself for not ordering it initially after I could not find it. Hoping it helps with this and I won’t have to dig too much at the wound to get the infection cleared.
Thank you, I will try soaking again tomorrow since we cleaned and rewrapped already. I did order Prid and it should be delivered today, perfect timing. Hopefully that helps draw out some of the infection. I’m guessing the updated pics don’t look to be healthy and healing, do they?
Does this look like a healing bumble? Do I need to soak and remove scabs again? I have an inkling that there is hard pus material still where it is swollen between her toes but idk how to remove it.
Thank you. I needed to see that wrapping; our wrap job looked a little Frankenstein-ish. I will inspect again tomorrow and go from there. Would you worry about the other little bumble? I couldn’t remove the scab from that one
So I’ve been searching quite a bit today and last night and I think my next steps are to keep packing a wrapping. I am just not sure if I got everything out that needed to come out. How do you tell?
