So you physically go in and scoop, huh? I feel terrible doing that but it is better than the alternate. Thank you.
It does actually look pretty healthy to me, but you're feeling there's some hard pus still in there. Maybe just let it go another day with what you're doing, soaking/Neosporin/wrapping. Then when the PRID comes, if you still feel there's something in there, try that. I've seen PRID on a human boil in person and was amazed how slick that was!Thank you, I will try soaking again tomorrow since we cleaned and rewrapped already. I did order Prid and it should be delivered today, perfect timing. Hopefully that helps draw out some of the infection. I’m guessing the updated pics don’t look to be healthy and healing, do they?
People rave about Prid and when I put together my chicken first aid kit I tried to get it at Walmart with no luck. I am kicking myself for not ordering it initially after I could not find it. Hoping it helps with this and I won’t have to dig too much at the wound to get the infection cleared. It does actually look pretty healthy to me, but you're feeling there's some hard pus still in there. Yes, I do after disinfecting everything including my tools carefully. I also use differently shaped disposable scalpels.
Wow I just read through that thread, how terrible. I will be very diligent about the wrapping. Do you do anything for the pain before digging around? I felt terrible when I did a little digging and she started closing her eyes and bowing her head as they do when they don’t feel good. I interpreted that as an expression of pain and I just felt awful keeping at it.Yes, I do after disinfecting everything including my tools carefully. One very important thing: Be careful not to wrap too tight as this can easily stop the blood flow and cause necrotic tissue or even toes or the entire foot to rott off.

Thank you. I’m being too anxious about it. I suppose I’ll know if it doesn’t start closing up and forming healthy pink skin as it shouldThese things take weeks to heal. I think it's looking good so far.
