"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I just performed an eggtopsy on my quitter guinea egg. Had feathers and had absorbed a lot of the yolk. fully developed feet. Its problem was a deformed head and beak, so I think it was alive for almost full time, but would never have been able to hatch. Thankfully I'm not posting a...

Final update on my guinea hatch. Six little peanuts all fuzzy and healthy. Was hoping for a pied bird, but all pearls. One eggbert that was a quitter. I've left it in the incubator, but no cheeps, movement or pips. I did a water test yesterday and didn't see any movement. I'll test...

Was gone this weekend, but came in for a few hours on Sunday morning to check the eggs. 1 zipping and 5 pipped. One not doing anything. Came home this morning and had 6 keets waiting for me. Ready to come out. The one egg still not doing anything. My six keets out of the incubator and into...

My eggciting lockdown picture. Just waiting for Sunday and practicing uploading pictures! 7 guinea eggs, all looking good. I take the pictures mostly to document the dates things happen. Helpful when trying to remember what you did the prior year.

Quote: Nothing special. I have a brincea mini advance and have followed the basic directions with filling half the water cup and temp of 99.5. Last year, I had 100% hatch rate for fertile eggs. The first one I did, I weighed every three days and compared to what they were supposed to lose...

Three more days until guinea egg lockdown. I have been good and haven't candled since day 14. So, its killing me! Hatch day should be Sunday. And, one of my cuckoo marans decided she wanted to be a mother, so I've put 10 guinea eggs under her today. I don't need to hatch any chickens right...

I hatched some cuckoo marans last year. The ones with the more distinct yellow spots on the head are males.

The other answer was correct. 28 days. I hatched a bunch last year and never had one earlier. Some went to 30 days.

I'm joining the hatch-a-long. But not chicks, I'm doing keets! Have 7 guinea eggs in the incubator. Candled at day 7 and all fertile and cooking along nicely. Scheduled hatch day is April 24.
