I calibrated my mercury thermometer that was supplied with the 9200 little giant using ice water this morning and it read 35 degrees. I have a batch of eggs in right now with that thermometer reading 104 and the digital I have reading 98 degrees. I hope between the two the actual temp is around...
The supplied thermometer is a glass one. I had never heard of the ice test so I looked it up and will try that for calibration. I think I will purchase a fan for the next hatch. It can only make it improve. I hate to see chicks that pip and do not make it. Thanks for the info.
I forgot to mention that I was using two thermometers. The one that was supplied with the incubator reads 104 while the other reads an average of 99. I was hoping that the true temp was around 101. I let the 99 average thermometer jump to 100-101 on a previous hatch and only got about a 40%...
I am jumping in a little late on this thread, but it is what I was looking for. I have the little giant still are incubator from TS and get a consistent 75% to 80% hatch rate including the few I loose when candling. The last hatch I lost 2 during candling 3 lost that pipped but did not hatch 3...
