Brunhilda had my hopes up again today, sitting on the baited nest later in the afternoon. She didn't even jump down to pick on the little ones as I opened up both sides of the coop for everyone to mingle. But alas, she was off the nest and on the roost tonight. On the bright side, I have buff...
What's your plan? Do you have eggs under her yet? How many are you going to give her? Any special ones? (Mine is not broody like I'd hoped, so I'm just going to have to follow along with yours and enjoy your experience.)
Unfortunately, I think I was just being overly hopeful. She hasn't taken the bait. The only thing that has happened is a couple of the hens have started laying in my "bait nest"... Oh well, hopefully someone will get the hint.
I have a hen who was in the nest this evening - later than any of them are usually there. She was pancaked into the nest, giving me the stink eye and attempted to remove my arm when I checked under her for eggs. (There were 2) I did take the eggs, she flattened herself further down into the nest...
