Yes, I will take it. I was looking for Genetic Hackle but you did a good job! Your turn!
I would take this, but salt and pepper is on a roll and got it first!
You are very close as the feathers of the barred kind of this breed are sold as grizzly rooster feathers, but the name I am looking for is the name of the breed itself that has other colors.
The photo was taken from feathersite under the Lincolnshire Buff heading and was credited to Roseawen farms. Here is their website: http://roseawen.co.uk/
There was no listing of the breed standard but this is what they say about the breed: An old breed circa 1850, bred for the table and eggs...
Wrong answer but :you're right--Black star male's feather pattern look a lot like this breed. That's what makes this chicken geussing game so challenging and fun--a lot of breeds look similar. This breed is blockier and has really short legs!
Here is a black star cockerel: next to the Scots...
MrMKK, you are a very astute bird-looker-at-er. This guess is wrong, but there is a feature this breed shares with the Japanese Bantams and you picked up on it. I am impressed! Thats a hint to other bird-looker-at-ers and chicken geussers.
I see Barred Columbian pattern so I'll guess Delaware but I'm also gonna guess that it can't be that easy!
PS: I didn't know you could change your screen name--how did you do that?
You may want to give everyone a hint---- there are several uniques things about this breed----I know what it is just becasue I know a fair amount of breeds from a certain part of the world and think someone else should get to post a guess This one is very hard!
Not a Partridge Rock, but you all are getting super- close. This is a tough one just because for me the boys between BBR, Gold Duckwing and Partridge are all so similar. If I posted a hen you guys would get it right off!
