Ok, I've had poopboards in my coop with pdz for almost 2 years now and I'm a total convert. I'm in the process of building another coop and as I'm starting this one from scratch wanted to know how wide y'all make your boards from wall to front if you have two parallel roosts? In my old coop I...

I am a real convert to PDZ on the poop board, I have used it for a couple of weeks now and I love it! Now I'm contemplating getting more day old chicks. Is there any reason that anyone could think of not to use it as bedding in the brooder?

I have shavings on the floor which I sprinkled every two weeks or so with a thin layer of DE (diatomaceous earth) to kill off any creepy crawlies. I have, like so many on this thread sweetpdz on the poopboard. i have very little poop on the floor, I checked, actually yesterday, now that I have...

Yes, absolutely. That's how i have them with an access door from the outside so taht I don't have to get on all fours on the floor to get to the eggs. The hens love it because it is secluded and dark underneath the poopboard.

Diane, I have the nesting boxes under the poop board. The board actually rests on them, as they are recycled kitchen cabinets, my poopshelf is a piece of recycled laminate kitchen counter so it is rather wide. I avoided the stooping issue (you do not want to get on your hands and knees to get...

Quote: I've not done this myself, since I have a walk-in coop. But I have seen pictures of designs where they had a poopshelf that they could pull out of the side of the coop, like a tray, clean it and then slide in again. I thought about this for a while, but it was harder to implement in...

Quote: Little report back. I changed the poopshelf setup, added a 1x6 to the front and filled up the resulting "box" with sweet pdz granules (was all they had at TSC, about 5 20lbs bags). This gave me probably about 2" deep. I hadn't sufficiently realized that this, like sand, will go...

I'm a little late to this, but is it possible to make an access hatch at the side that has the roosts and the poopboard, so you can scoop from the outside in? Just a thought.

I'm going to do a deepcleaning of my coop soon. I used the DLM on the floor with DE and over the winter that has worked fine - no smells. I also have a poopshelf with two washingmachine trays on it. These are about an inch and a half deep, if that. So far i had wood shavings on the trays which...
