I honestly don't think 4 x 4 is nearly big enough, even for bantams. It sounds like you have your mind made up though.
As for winter, we use a dog bowl that plugs in for water. We paid about $15 for it at Walmart. Otherwise we don't use any heat or light but we may add a non-heating light this...
I wondered how wells would be doing this year. DH said all the irrigating is hard on the water table (I know nothing about that kind of thing) and a lot of people are concerned about their wells. It is so HOT here. A poor guy hauling a horse trailer with two horses in it took the turn wrong near...
The first one that came through left no rain (well 1/10 but I think it evaporated on contact) and put our power out. The second round gave us a whopping 3/10 inch of rain. But at least it's something. We were lucky to get no hail or very little. I went out to close the chicken coop window and...
One of the big problems with the crops, even the ones that don't look bad, is pollination. Some are tasseling too early and even if they are tasseling at the right time, the lack of rain will seriously hinder pollination. Corn can't even be chopped right now for feed, as it's too high in...
We know a farmer that farms several thousand acres (I'm thinking 5 or 6 thousand at least) that dh said in the past, never bought crop insurance. I'm not sure if he does now but I'm sure dh will hear about it either way at some point. My BIL use to work for this guy and is still good friends...
Most of our crops are in Cass County but apparently only the areas where there has been no rain. I know they've had some rain (definitely more than we've gotten here in southern Pulaski County where we live) but not even close to enough. We walked right on the wabash river bottom the other day...
Is anyone interested in a nice EE roo? He is very vocal and doesn't seem to be aggressive at all. We are in southern Pulaski county and don't want anything for him. Here's a pic that was taken last November.
No kidding-that just about made me sick. We went to Kokomo this afternoon to the movies. On the way there, it was $3.65 in Walton/Galveston and on the way back, $3.89. WTH? I did a double take. It was even that high in Kokomo but I saw it so quickly I thought maybe it was a diesel price. My kids...
Hello. I'm near Logansport too. Actually a little ways north (southern Pulaski county) but we're in Logansport almost every single day (lots of kids' activities there).
Seramas are tiny chickens. They are the smallest breed. My favorite blog that features some seramas is http://madchickenlady.blogspot.com/ (she has only 2 seramas).
Ah I've been to Newport many times. My friends and I went to the beach almost every weekend every summer. =D . I used to work at the county health center in Corona. And you're so right about it changing out there. We go every few years (my parents still live there) and it sure is different. :/
ugh. I just went out and it's awful out there. 36, which isn't bad, but super windy and the wind is cold. Flurries too. And we got almost an inch of rain overnight. I can't wait til summer.
Lucky. Here in the north (about 60 miles south of the IN/MI state line) it's 19 degrees right now and that's the predicted high. I think by Monday it's supposed to be back in the 30s. I can't wait.
