I'm dealing with the new site even though I hate having to use multiple browsers. But I'm working through it. But this is the most annoying response I've seen (and I'm not picking on you-you aren't the only one that suggests it). Some people don't have the extra $$ to put toward a GFM and what...
Oh, in case you want to change the editor permanently (instead of hitting the button under every thread) do this:
go to profile
click on account details
under site preferences choose BB code editor
click save
If you use the other editor (not full page but whatever the other one is called) your spell checker should work. It still has all the buttons for bold, italic, etc but it's just not as straightforward.
Adblock will get rid of the stuff on the right but I didn't have any luck with the firefox...
Can you post which browser you're using? I think some are better than others. I'm using Chrome (whatever the newest version is) and it seems to be loading ok. Not great but it's not taking a full minute. When I used an older version of firefox it was terrible and so far, I am resisting a firefox...
But regardless of all that, the bottom line is that you (and apparently others, although maybe I haven't read enough threads in this forum to see it myself) have called or are calling some people who are complaining "whiners" and referred to the complaints as a "high pitched whine".
I agree. A quilting site I am a member at recently changed drastically (even more than this forum) and anyone who didn't like it was told by the cheerleaders to "suck it up or leave" and a lot of name calling ensued. It was really sad. BTW I don't go to that site anymore but not because of the...
But not everyone can afford to just go out and buy a new computer every three years. We have a total of 1 desktop and 4 laptops and they have to last as long as possible when you need that many. Well only 3 of the laptops are really needed but I got a good deal on the other one. :D
My computer...
It's all the same chrome but they issue updates from time to time and if the update is serious enough, it changes the version number. The one I'm using now is version 16.0.912.75.
I agree. But it is for me. I have the newest version of Chrome with very few add-ons and everything is kept updated. And yet it's choppy. It's probably all the scripting on the site now.
I'm trying it with Chrome now and it has the same choppy scrolling problems I had with firefox. This is the newest version of Chrome. I don't use IE because I have read so many stories about it being insecure. So I really don't want to have to keep FF or Chrome open for everything but BYC and IE...
That's a really good point and one I hadn't thought of. We're lucky to have dsl here but only through our phone co-op. For a long time only dialup was available and only from the same source. AT&T, Verizon, etc have never offered internet where I live. Even Hughes Net doesn't service our area. I...
I know FF3.6 is old but I hate the newer versions. But I'm using IE9 right now and it's working much better. However, I am so used to FF that I rarely use any other browser, and any site where I have to use a different browser usually just ends up forgotten. Obviously I won't forget this one but...
I'm having problems too and the stark white background is awful on my eyes. My scrolling is very choppy. I did try upgrading to FF9 but the two toolbars I use every day don't work with version 9 so after a ton of pain in the butt I downgraded back to 3.6. It took a couple of hours to finally get...
