How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

Very cute! The 2 that died could have done so for many reasons - maybe their cords got tangled and they suffocated or maybe they died because their just wasn't enough room for the 4 of them. You're too far from me otherwise I know of a few people who are looking for kids right now. Good luck...

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

I'll cross my fingers for ya that they wait to kid when it's nice, warm and sunny! Sorry to hear about your kid, though! As for the doeling's mucus drip - I've seen them have that for over a month and some that kid hours after it. You really just never know.

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

Wow. They both look great! It really is hard to say how many weeks left based just on the udder and ligs. You really never know. CC bagged up in March, I have a doe who's due anywhere from June 1st - June 25 (depending on if she took the first breeding or 2nd) and she just started with the...

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

I realized I wasn't even feeling the right area! Well, I was, sort of. I was feeling for the tail head and spine, then digging way down right next to that thinking I should be feeling something in those pockets. Then I was feeling my pygmy doe and spread my fingers a little farther out to the...

I thought I knew what I was doing as far as checking the ligaments until this year when it hit me like a ton of bricks. Talk about a forehead slapper!

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

Do you know how to check ligaments? That would be a good way to check her progress. Keep in mind that goats are liars and she could have "lost her ligaments" one minute and they'll be back the next, but the more soft they are the closer she is to kidding.

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

My goats kid right in the barn with only a cattle panel separating them from the herd. Each person is different, but I feel that they do much better in the company of their herdmates. Especially if the doe is a first freshener - sometimes the older does who've 'been there done that' will...

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

Great job on figuring about the hay. I wouldn't take away all hay and only give her pellets, though - just trade out those bales for other, less dusty bales. Goats need hay/browse all the time; they can't simply live just on pellets. I went back and browsed over the replies but I don't see...

How do I know if my goat is about to kid?

First...calm down! You sound like you have a smart head on your shoulders so give yourself some credit. Next - look over this site. www.fiascofarm.com There's a lot of useful information about kidding on there. It's a little dated and the owner no longer raises goats, but most, if not all...
