Growing a tomato plant inside my house-- help me make this successful

I had a branch droop down to the ground that I didn't notice. I did actually touch the ground, when I did find it and when I was trying to tie all the branches up, that branch that was touching was actually rooted very well into the ground. We prune half of whatever doesn't have flowers and...

You are taking the fun out of gardening...lol You are definitely over thinking this. Tomatoes are weed plants, they will find a way to grow....anywhere! If your seedlings are getting real leaves, the seeds are not the problem. Plants only need three things to grow; sunlight, water, and...

Remember, more leaves mean more access to sunlight, more sunlight means more energy for building more cells, more cells mean bigger plants. Stop experimenting and grow them little suckers.....

What is "LOT'S of indirect sun?" Sounds like an oxymoron... Can you find a place for a lot of direct sun? Once they have leaves they need sun to grow, before this they take nutrients from their seed coats and then from the soil. The sun is the best energy they can have. If you are still...

Yes, Miracle Gro is good for at least 6 months. No, do not fertilize. Which product did you get? The blue bag (Moisture Control) or the yellow bag (Potting soil or Garden Soil)? I think you are narrowing the list of problems down to a few possibilities; lighting, temp, or over feeding/watering...

Next would be a soil test for PH, nitrogen, Phospherous, and potassium (potash). I tested mine and what I found was not good, although I thought my soil was pretty good; a very high PH and basically no nitrogen.....

I'm sorry, but I should have asked earlier.... what type of lighting are you using...bulbs or tubes. As this will make a big difference in growth. The bulbs will provide lots of warmth but little UV rays, and the tubes will provide possibly enough light but not enough heat. Are you a little...

Don't worry...matoes are very tough. Let the soil drain and dry a little, stop giving the fert for a while because it is already in the soil.... Make sure to water only with tap water, don't use filtered, distilled, RO or bottled water. Unless there is another issue (light) they should bounce back.

Hi, Arielle, about now would be a good time to post some close-up pics. Are these leaves attached at the lowest part of the plant? Are they single leaves or are they on a branch? If they are single and all other new growth looks good... then this sounds normal as the primary leaves will die...

That means the soil does not hold the moisture well and is becoming too dry between watering or the soil is too loose (won't support the plant). That's why I always mix my soils with water before using them so it doesn't float like that, too much organics does the same thing.

Yes, the 1 inch holds for both... A little each keeps soil and plants from drying out. You can also water from below...set pots into an inch of water and they will soak up the water.

I did the Lady Bugs one year, honestly could not tell a difference and never saw a single Lady Bug after 2 weeks... I'm not to fond of bringing other bugs in to take care of other bugs..Would rather use a natural repellent or even a bug killer spray.

Patience Arielle, patience. Time will come when it's time... It will be worth the wait. I have hampered growth in the past by being too eager. If you don't want the bolt, you can always start new plants every couple of weeks and remove the plant for eating and then replace as needed with...

That reminds me of the story of the lady who sniffs and eats used diapers.............. Just thinking of it makes me want to toss up lunch... Don't sweat it. Tomatoes have amazingly strong root systems when grown in good conditions, you can separate them by tearing or cutting them apart, I use a steak knife! My wife cringes when I cut plants apart but we always have amazing plants each year. Do some Googling on stuff that you can use...
