I bought him as an ameraucana but he's obviously not but all the others I bought with him, who are also labeled ameraucana but arent, lay blue and green eggs. So I just call him my easter egger rooster. I don't know his genetics but love his colors.hes a good roo too. He calls the hens whenever...
Yes all but the chipmunk that's from an easter egger hen and the dad is an easter egger as well. I just had some more hatch. The rooster in my first post is the only roo I have. The welsummer kept attacking me so he went to a friend. These eggs were collected long after he was gone.
Awesome I just love hatching them and seeing what I get. I'm hatching for friends so they all have homes to go to. It's interesting though that I can see on their pea combs so clear right at hatch if it's male or female. Some have 3 distinct rows and some are flat. It's awesome. Have I mentioned...
I know it's so wierd because I have the white ones but half of the others are either solid black females or black males with a white head spot. I'll take a pic. Also hatched some from him and my easter egger hens that are coming out light blond chipmunks.
Ok so update on my cross. I ended up with several white chicks with a few black spots on them and several that came out black sex link. All with pea combs and slate colored legs. Wierd how genetics works but they are so cute. All of them have the muffs and beards too. I'm happy with the outcome...
He does have a lot of white no barring though more splotches than anything. All his sisters from that hatch lay green eggs. Just curious because I love his color. May just keep him with the other easter eggers. Thanks everyone for your input. Much appreciated. :)
If I cross this roo with my barred rocks would I get sex link easter eggers? I know I would get sex links with the welsummer roo behind him but he's still a teenager lol.
