The two roos I got a couple weeks ago are about 5 months old, I'm not sure the one has ever seen a roost, he always lays on the ground he has no feathers on his chest. Is there anything I can do besides give him a roost?

Now that the boys (who are 5 months old) are in with the hens(who are 3 months old) how long will the roosters try to bread the hens? At what age do the hens start to squat for the roos? Or is it going to be trial and error for the roos until the get it right?
