I know what you mean. I'm in the middle of a hatch right now. Day 22 and day 20. 14 have hatched so far with 1 DIS, it zipped about 1/2 to 3/4 the way around and then there was a crack running down the shell. When I investigated the chick had moved towards the small end and suffocated. :(
I went into lockdown last night. I added a sponge this morning to help bring up the humidity.
This is my first time doing this. When I set the eggs I didn't realize there was a "lockdown" so 3 days later I set another dozen in the same incubator. Oops! :th
So I have eggs on day 19 and some...
Yes, so glad I waited!
Last time I candled I thought I may have 3 clears but waited to toss. When I candled this morning I only had 1 clear. Did an eggtopsy and it wasn't fertile. My air cells were small so I only put wet paper towel in and they seem like the right size now after 3 days.
I...
Seems like everyone says to do things differently. I don't have a hygrometer for my incubator, so I'm just monitoring the air cell size. We have a woodstove that sucks the moisture out of the house so I don't want to mummify the poor little things! Lol!
Yesterday was day 7 so I candled my first batch of eggs. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of veining and movement! Some were hard to tell but 22 out of 24 seemed viable. I kept all eggs are still in the bator until I can be sure. Air cells did look small so I'm going to run without any...
Question, I'm new to this and I've read conflicting views. I have a forced air incubator. Should I add water to it initially or not?
Eggs went in on Sunday and I did add water. I was going to see what the air sack looked like on day 7 to determine if more water needs to be added or not.
