    I saw 4 hawks circling over a fir tree behind my house 2 days ago. This is the time of year that food sources are scarce for them, and trees have lost their leaves (less cover to hide in). It's the toughest time when free ranging chickens. Be careful!

    Goodness no! Definitely, I agree with you! But I have seen other threads about free ranging mention that loss is part of the deal. No guarantees, but I just can't push my luck.
