Well, 2 chicks from 6 eggs from the incubator. My first time using an incubator, so obviously have a lot to learn.
Had a broody sitting on two eggs, one has hatched. Just waiting to see what the final egg will do.
So, 7 or 8 chicks hatched total from my 2 broodies and the incubator.
First egg has pipped in the incubator. Of course my digital thermometer decided to fail and I managed to bump the temperature control (lower fortunately). Now I'm waiting for things to equalize out....
The first half of my hatch is complete. My broody hatched 4 chicks from some shipped eggs. The other half (local eggs) are in the incubator slated to hatch in a week.
The white silkie chick she hatched is pretty cute:
First chick of the first batch has hatched and another egg looks like it was pipping. These are the shipped eggs I put under my bantam Cochin. The chick looks like a white silkie.
I had about convinced myself nothing was going to hatch (even though hatch day isn't technically until tomorrow)...
I want to join in... I have shipped silkie and frizzle eggs under a bantam cochin broody set to hatch August 28.
This is actually a convoluted story involving chicken math. I thought my cochin and my silkie were going broody at the same time. I wanted to see if the cochin was a good broody...
