Why does my cuckoo marans look different from my others?

The American Poultry Association currently recognizes four varieties of Marans. They are Black, Black Copper, Wheaten and White. So there is no standard for Blue or Cuckoo. I truly don't care what they are. I was not looking for any breed in particular when I chose them but I'm very happy I did.

Why does my cuckoo marans look different from my others?

My two from Meyers lay a brown darker than your photo. They have a lot of bloom on them so they appear lighter but if you wet them they are chocolate.

I have Blue Cuckoo Marans also. One is definitely darker. Even the face and comb is black. I call her 2 ton Tilly. Lol They are from Meyer Hatchery. They have no barring but females in blue can be without barring as per the hatchery. The front bird is my Blue Andalusian.
