Talk to the judges, and any breeders you meet when you go to that show - after the judging. Most will be very helpful......stan

I Think you instinct is correct Kinmera, that does not look like a blue, but she is interesting! , and pretty.... almost a wild type maybe?? Who knows what that white daddy is hising....I would not breed her as a rock, but she could help make a colorful layer flock....thanks for...

I did , for size and type mostly. Having to pretty much start all over now. We moved to another state and left the entire flock behind. I was able to get some eggs from my line,,but only hatched 4 pullets that are not looking very good. May have to go back to barred or white for a reset.. I do...

From the chicken calculator, it looks like double lacing is due to the CO gene along with the Pg gene. Thought that might interest you....seems like it could be bred out but it might take aome test breeding.....

I haven't run your combination yet but I think there are a lot of possibilities, especially with your white rock being recessive, but here is a good place to play. http://kippenjungle.nl/kruising.html what I think you would want to do to produce laced blues is to put the blue pullets back...

Yeah Scott, I am not close to understanding how the partridge pattern works, but Joe Emenshiser (sorry I butchered his name) once told me that that was the way to go to get true lacing. Seems it is that gene that causes lacing and you can not breed lacing from birds with edging. It would be nice...

If they are carrying Pg gene, you have a rare find. All three blue rock breeders would love some of those genes.... Please let me know when you mi ght have some of those eggs available!

If it was dominate white, all the chicks would be white wouldn't they??? Couldn't the blue have come from either parent? I don't know how the pattern gene works on the partridge. Is partridge supposed to be dominate?? Hey, send me some of them eggs!......

Would love to see pics of those blue pullets! Coming from partridge , they should have the pattern gene which would give them true lacing on the blues. That's something worth breeding for sure....

Please send any culls this way! Although, I don't imagine there will be any...... beautiful birds. What improvements are you looking for?? Would a tad more breast on the male be desirable??......

While I understand the purpose and intent, the whole concept of these threads is in direct opposition to the concept of 'backyard chickens'. There are too many threads covering the different breeds already. I would have prefered to remove all but one thread for each breed and let the very...

Just like Scott said, why reinvent the wheel?? I' m pretty sure that you will be able to find quality rocks from a respected breeder near you, so why feed and breed thousands of clicks just to get to where you could start from?? You will have enough of a challenge just getting the perfect bird...

I have always understood that the barring was caused by an 'on/off' switch that turned the color production on for a time making black, then turned it off for a time, leaving white. I have been told that when combined with the slow feathering, that is what causes the crisp barring?? Any truth...
