I don't have a problem using the chick starter and putting out calcium on the side. ..as long as I can ferment the starter feed. They are going to have to eat the same food......they free range and will have access to all the feed I put out....unless I feed them in fenced areas and that wouldn't...
I can mix the two feeds half and half and get 18.5%......BUT can the chicks eat that? It would be half laying mash and half chick starter.I am thinking they should not have the calcium. But if it is cut in half would it hurt them?
I found a 21% chick starter at a local mill. Is this ok for all the chickens with oyster shell on the side? I would like to ferment it and maybe add BOSS. Does that sound good or bad? It is nonGMO and soyfree, but not organic.
I haven't seen Countryside Organics mentioned. Is there a problem with it? I am feeding a non GMO soyfree layer mash from a local mill. I would rather feed organic but the cost is much higher.... Countryside also told me in their store that you cannot ferment their feed...why would that be...
