Whats your favorite waterer?

Oh yeah, we can get pretty cold in the winter (in relative terms for Tucson..lol). I'm actually on the outskirts of Tucson and about 1k feet higher so we don't get the city heat and get full wind exposure. It snows a couple times a year here and we have plenty of hard freezes, but nothing crazy like Michigan!
Ah, yes, the mountains would be different...does it ever stay freezing thru the whole day or just at night?

Well, yes and no.

We very rarely have ambient temps that are below freezing through the entire day (outside of a couple of wicked cold snaps) during the winter. However, out here I've oriented every building east to west to block as much summer sun as possible and that also results in no winter sun. One of our first coops is along side a shipping container where we keep the Javas and there was thick ice in there for several weeks even though the temps were well above freezing, along with one of my 15 gallon waterers with horizontal nipples. Nipples never froze, but the chickens weren't happy!
