I think it was old medicated stuff that was bad for ducks. I gave medicated showbird/gamebird starter and mine are fine. The two chicks ate it too, because they were in with the turkey at the same time, plus the ducks in another brooder. I put both chick starter and gamebird in the long tray feeder and the chicks seemed to like the gamebird better. It didn't seem to bother them.
I got unmedicated because the feed person said it was fine for ducklings and chicks.I believe (unmedicated- I think I read somewhere ducks should not have the medicated,) starter crumble I believe is ok for both....is it not @WVduckchick
??
haven't taken him out yet because he is still wet but he seems healthy.Great! How's the baby doing today?
the duck is in brroder but was picking at his butt, so we wiped it. Is this a problem. He probably looks wet from the sticky stuff. I'd have had him out a long time ago lol.
idk exactly, I think he was cleaning himself but he stopped doing it and seems fine now. He is shaking his tail feathers, is this just a duck trait?I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Picking at its own butt? Like cleaning it, or biting itself? Or were the chicks pecking at the duck?

I have a picture sorry it took so long.Oh good. And yes, ducks will shake their tails like little puppies lol They can start a shake at the top of their head and ripple it all the way down their body and off their tail, especially when they get out of water. So cute.
