What breed/sex are these Geese

Well, I would like to get a gander but I don't want there to be issues with the kids. Would it be ok to get two geese? And will a goose still be broody with out a gander like hens do with out a rooster? Out of curiosity are there any bantam geese? Thank you so very much for all your help

I think Buff, Blue and lavender Americans are the smallest domestic geese I could be wrong there too. and have nice personalities. Yes a goose will still go broody even with out a gander. Just in their makeup to reproduce. lol

2 female geese would be fine together and as long as you keep your gander from interacting with your kids during breeding season a gander is a joy to have i love both of mine but they can be a handful come breeding, laying and raising goslings which takes up about half the year. My 2 youngest were 1 yr old end of May this year and my gander still acts protective of them.

Two geese will be fine together and a lot more docile than having a gander around. However, they will lay eggs and MAY go broody. The trick is to consistently pick up all eggs so they have nothing to sit. Geese will be aggressive when broody but not like a gander.

Miss Lydia gives the best advice...geese (male or female) and children should never be left alone unsupervised.

I agree with Jtn and Ms L, children just don't have the confidence and common sense to be around geese.

YOU need to make sure that you are a very strong owner, you be the biggest baddest goose and make sure your geese, male or female, respect you. My geese will try to go after anyone who comes in the yard, but as soon as I come in with them they'll turn tail. Do not think they will be nice to everyone. They won't unless you teach them they HAVE to.
