This is BigBird, I got him/her as a chick at the end of May, it's almost August now. He/she crows every morning, but it acts like a hen. I can't have BigBird crowing because I live in a town. The store I got it from (Runnings) is supposed to only sell hens but it is possible they messed up. I posted a picture. What do you think, male or female?

That's a pretty chicken! And he is definitely a rooster.

I have learned that depends on the breed and sometimes a hen can act like a rooster, but it does look a rooster to me.
 
Hi, welcome to BYC!

Some people have used the no crow collars with success, you can put that in the Search box at the top of the screen to read posts about them. It would be a shame to have to re-home him.

If you have a broody girl that wants to sit on the eggs, she might get cranky with you for taking them. But not all chickens want to sit on eggs, whether they are fertile or not.
