Is there some reason you can't just pick the chicken up and put it back where it belongs? I'm not trying to be a smart a** or anything. I'm just confused about what the problem is. If you're afraid to remove it, you should tell the person who owns it that they need to come collect it from your nest.

Is your Muscovy broody? Does she actually want to sit on the nest? Other people here have had chickens hatch ducks.... If your chicken is broody and so is your duck, you may have to remove the chicken and pen her away from the nest.....

The chicken isn't his. Sounds like that's at least part of the problem. I was hoping we'd have more information by now. If I found a strange chicken on one of my duck nests, which I wouldn't because my nests are in the pen, I would remove the chicken and tell the owner they needed to keep it out of my area or I was going to consider it my chicken.
