We also have a PVC gravity feeder. What we did at the bottom is put a 6" endcap as a feed holder. Replacing the elbows in other feeders. The pvc pipe has a notch that lets the feed spill into the end cap. It always flows and never overflows. We do use pellets, so the hens tend to not bill out stuff.
