My Easter Egger/Lavender Orpington crosses are 5 weeks old! I kind of suspect they are both cockerels...they have some pretty good comb action going on...we shall see...

Chick 1 is standing up

Chick 2 is standing up

Not sure which one this is...I think chick 2

Chick 1 on the left

Chick 1 on the left....s/he would not stand still!!!!

I know this one is blurry, but I found the angry momma in the background funny. And the face on my shirt is just perfect!

That's what I thought. If the both get along with each other and my current rooster, is it possible to keep them all? I have 40 hens...is that enough to keep 3 roosters safely happy?

Yes, the recommended ratio of roosters to hens is 1 rooster for every 10 hens. One rooster can easily fertilize eggs from 10-15 hens, so 3 roosters should work out very nicely for 40 hens.)

I agree two cockerels . Do you really want 3? I'm sure your hens wouldn't mind if there wasn't enough cockerel love to go around. They would probably rejoice and have beautiful feathering instead of bald spots and other roo damage.

Keeping all 3 totally depends on how they get along and how they behave towards the hen. I'm already guessing that one of the new ones will have to go....but we shall see.
