What do you put on the floor of a guinea coop, do we need to put anything?

We're in the process of building a fly pen and making a storage building into a guinea coop. Do we need to put something, bedding or anything on the floor of the coop? Thanks so much.

A little pine chips on the floor helps keep any smell down and is easier to clean than scraping floors. It also gives them a softer place to land when coming off the roost. Hay or straw will also work but must be kept dry to avoid mold.

You need something on the floor unless you want to scrap up dried poop all the time, and have birds feet caked in poop...

I use the deep litter method, started off with about 50/50 mix of straw and pine shavings, over that last year there have been leaves, grass clippings, whatever fresh fruits of vegetable droppings....

I put paper towls over the floor of the brooder box and about 3 inches of pne shavings. Also make sure the water and feed are raised up so that they kick less litter into it.

How many inches deep is your deep litter?

I am trying to DL in my guinea coop, and it's only about 5 inches deep.
