pullet or cockeral?? how old?

It's not a proper pea comb...so I wouldn't leap to EE...no beard or muff or green legs.

In my humble opinion, it just has more of a funky comb than anything else, which can happen in hybrids even with Leghorns/BR's....and that can happen in purebreds too. I have a Barnevelder that has that kind of funk in its comb, which is slowly growing into a single comb, but will never look quite "proper" for the breed (and thus this bird won't be bred forward). (Come to think of it, I had a Welsummer that did the same thing...another breed known for a solid single comb).

Give it some time and upload another photo.

I still vote pullet no matter what comb type it has....or incorrect comb type....and I think a backyard mix is what we believed all along...with Leghorn and Barred Rock definite possibilities in the background....I do not think you have to leap to other breeds yet, but be aware in backyard mixes there is always the potential for a lot more behind those genes than what the seller states.

LOL. Add aggressive auto-correct and my smartphone makes me look like a real dummy whenever I text for chicken stuff as it doesn't recognize half the words.
