Looking for a coop builder in Denver, Colorado area

Hi Colorado chicken owners,
When I was looking for a builder I wished that a post popped up like this one. I hope this info helps someone avoid a terrible experience like mine.

If you come across Jason Cordova and Christine Romero when you're searching for someone to build your coop, I recommend that you save yourself a lot of time, money, and frustration and avoid doing business with these people. They're based in Denver but do business in the mountains too. I had a very bad experience with them. In summary, they did not finish what was agreed to in our contract and he did not finish it per the schedule in our contract. The coop was supposed to be completed in 7-10 days (no more than 20 days, weather dependent; however, weather was not an issue). After almost 2 months, the coop was still not done and I had to get someone else to finish it. They are likely not doing business as 5280 Coops any longer - I don't know what their new business name is. Send me a private message if you're interested in more details. He advertises on Craigslist with this picture. It looks great, but don't fall for it.

Yes, I agree. Consumer beware. Just went through a very similar experience! We will finish the coop ourselves.

I wanted to show off our new coop! I was told by 5280 coops that what i had is my $900 dollars! So here it is.........





Keep in mind we put the scrap linoleum in it ourselves. Using my kindle so not sure photos are going to appear properly..:/

That's terrible! Nice box that probably took him 2 hours and $50 in materials. At least now you can make it your own. That's what made me feel a little better about having to finish mine. The way it turned out is WAY better than Jason Cordova could have ever pulled off.

On a happier note, your flock is beautiful! They look so happy and healthy. I'm sure they will really appreciate their new home once it's done.

Our new coop! Been finished for a while now....took a little getting used to but, Chicks are happy in their Hen House. Stays dry...sturdy and strong. From the plywood box, compliments of 5280 Coops, to an awesome home for our small flock.

A prefab shed is something worth considering. I use my existing shed as a coop - just tree branches for roosts and plastic basins for nest boxes and hey presto - i got a coop!
