Hi! Just want to introduce myself. I have my first 4 chicks and I'm so very excited! They supposedly hatched on my birthday 7/31/15. And I purchased them as day old chicks 8/1.
Black Astrolorp/ welsummer/ silver laced Wyandotte / and an easter egger.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a nice mix of breeds. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed as they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (our children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. I love the chocolate eggs of the Welsummers. In my personal opinion, they are the prettiest eggs in the chicken world. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thanks so much! I can't believe how fast they are growing. 4 weeks already and preparing to move outside to their house and run that we will finish this week.

Chicks sure do grow fast! I hope you've taken lots of pictures to document how much they've changed. My oldest girls are close to 2 years old now and it's hard to think of them as being as small as the ones in your photos.

You have some lovely breeds and you'll have a colorful egg basket when they start laying.

If you're interested, you might want to say hello to other members in your state. You can find your state link here:

Good luck with your flock, it's nice to have you here!

and congratulations on getting your own flock.

They do grow so fast, it really surprised me as well, and every day brings more fun surprises.

Good luck in getting your coop done and ready.
