Yep, same situation. What are your plans for your flock? Do they free range or are they in some sort of coop or chicken tractor? When we are able to purchase them, we will free range in an area sanctioned off with electric fencing/Hotwire. They will have a large coop for night, but I'm lazy about cleaning, so I'm worried about that... Lol, just kidding. I have to clean a snake's cage, two leopard geckos' cage, a large fish tank, a pond, quail pens and cages, brooders, incubators, a dog's pen, a very large tortoise pen, and keep up a small garden and mini "wildlife preserve" which houses any animal that comes along. We have wild strawberries, grass, oak trees, and plenty of bushes, shrubs, wild flowers, and weeds for mice, snakes, rats, lizards, frogs, toads, birds, rabbits, squirrels, and many other animals to share. My dog usually runs the rabbits and squirrels off, but they are pretty persistent. I peacefully coexist with them and a family of raccoons. Don't tell anyone, but I leave out peanut butter and bird seed for them sometimes...lol, probably not a great idea with so many animals, an orchard, and a garden but I can't resist. Guess I'm one of those bleeding hearted animal lovers...

I have 9 chickens total. I roo out of the bunch. They free range with an open coop for sleeping and laying. I have a pitbull that watches out for them and a little mutt dog too. I have two tortoises, lui caliber and delirious.we also have an African cichlids and a sucker fish. All this with my four sons and a brother in law in the house!!! Lol I don't know what silence is anymore.

We have the quail in secure cages with automatic sprinklers, flashing red eyes, etc. to keep the raccoons at bay. They are very sweet and eat mostly crayfish from the lake near us and seeds. I sometimes throw fruit or veggies from my garden into the wilder area behind the main yard for them. They like to climb the little wooden play structure on our lawn in the backyard, we find their little paw prints all the time. Our tortoise is a Greek, we had a desert tortoise which was stolen when we moved, a huge blow since she had been a part of the family for over fifty years, everyone was devastated. Do you keep yours outside or inside? What sort of enclosure?

Haha! My baby is outside in a huge pen, about 10 by 6 ft. He has a large burrow, a patch of grass, some planted succulents, and a log hide which he loves! His water dish is connected to a drip ring and self fills. Do yours have names? Mine is Little T, thanks to the kids.
