Hi everyone!

Obviously, I am new to BYC :)

I am a new chicken owner, and took over the chickens from the previous owners of our house.
Now working our butts off to getting them free of parasites, coop improvement for the time being (once the people-house is liveable, it's the turn for the chickens' new house) and their happiness.

I did study Animal Management (like for working in a shelter, or Zoo) but there way is more to keeping chickens than we learned at school :)

I live in a little village in the middle of the Netherlands, called Andel. I have a varied flock of 3 hybrids and some other mixes. 9 including the rooster. We also have 2 Maine Coon girl cats, Faizah and Lindy, and a shorthaired guy called Swiffer/

Next year when the new coop is ready, I want Sebright and Barnevelder chickens. Luckily, there is enough room for them.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I would guess your background in Animal Management will come in handy with the chickens and what wasn't covered in school, you can get here. BYC has a huge amount of information on it and a lot of helpful members so always feel free to ask questions.

I hope you can get the Seabrights and Barnevelders next year, both those breeds seem interesting. Every couple of weeks, a different breed is highlighted for discussion and the Seabrights were the subject of a Focus thread a while back, you might enjoy reading through that one:

I'd love to see some pictures of your Maine Coon cats, those are so cool!

Nice to have you here

glad you have joined us.

Good luck getting your "inherited" flock healthy and pest free and with your plans to update your home and theirs.

thank you all for the very warm welcome!

I will start to post pics soon, once settled a bit in the house.

had another round of attemting the pest control yesterday, so hopefully the gals will get new feathers and keep them soon!
