I honestly hope I never have to get rid of this fellow, he truly is amazing. Great and protective with all 8 of his girls, keeps them all safe and together (except my 1 wayward one, there's no controlling her) and I love the peaceful understanding the two of us got. The only negative is my kids have inevitably (and probably irreversibly) caused him to dislike and distrust them. There's constantly ruckous between him and them and I can't allow him to get to the point of actually hurting him. Anyways, just photo sharing, because this is probably the only place who would sympathize with my desire to show of such a pretty boy. :p

Pretty boy? He's gorgeous!!

He is, in his own way :) I haven't tried petting or cuddling with him since he started mating the girls and matured, he's not *that* kind of rooster lol. But he'll walk around the yard, and if one of his hens start straying he'll crow and get them back to him, and he'll run to cut one off if they're headed towards someplace that might be dangerous. Always walking around and watching everything. If I'm trying to round them up and lock him into the run before all his hens he'll walk the fence line and crow and grumble until every single one of them is back, and some how he knows if one is missing lol. At night if it's starting to get too dark and the hens haven't shown signs of going in for the night I've seen him dash around and start herding the girls towards the coop until they begin climbing in and getting up to their roost. I don't see how any rooster could be so attentive and brilliant.

He's a very handsome guy!

Love hearing positive stories about roosters. I don't have one (yet) but see so many posts about unwanted ones. It was fun seeing your pictures and reading how protective he is.

Thanks for sharing him with us!
