French black copper maran barely laying

I have a 30week old FBCM hen who started laying last Monday, she laid an egg last Monday and then not again until this past Sunday. That is all she has laid so far. Is this typical of the breed? I am fairly new to chickens especially this breed. All of my other layers were fairly consistent when they started laying.

Since your girl just recently started laying, I don't think laying sporadically is unusual. It can take some time for them to mature and get the "kinks" worked out in their laying. From what I've read, Marans are not prolific layers (like say a Leghorn) but if you put Marans in the search box, you'll find a lot of breed threads on them and can ask other members what kind of egg laying rates they are seeing.

You did fine, I didn't think you were rude at all! Always feel free to ask questions, that's how we all learn from each other.
 
What color egg did she lay? This time of year (with less light) hens tend to wind down or stop through the darkest periods of the year - often to start up again in spring. Is she going through a molt?
