Ducks won't brood eggs

My 2 khaki campbell female ducks have 16 eggs. I thought after 10-14 eggs they would start to lay on them. Only one is doing anything with the eggs, the other does nothing. But the one that does stuff with the eggs, only moves them around , and she buries them under the wood shavings. She makes a mound of the eggs under the shavings. I am worried, is she going to be able to hatch the eggs? Is she doing what ducks normally do or is she not. This is my first time, and their behavior might be different then the chickens. I had chickens hatch the ducklings before and they laid on the eggs 24/7

How old are the ducks? If they just began laying they may not get broody for a while. Also, not all ducks become broody. That has been bred out of some of the domesticated ducks for better egg laying. Hopefully someone with more experience can offer you some better insight. Good luck!

The ducks are 9 months old.

where r u located , some females do not want to brood in colder weather because 1) they dont want to have to sit in the cold
and 2) she knows that cold weather would be hard on the ducklings.
Just wait till spring or if it is spring just give them alittle more time they get the hang of it.
Also you should know that i find ducks are gradual brooders, maybe spending some time on the eggs one day and not sitting 24/7 until like the second week.

She does sit on them for like 3 minutes then gets off for a few hours. A live in a warm climate.

Khaki campbells have been bred for high egg production. Think the leghorn of the duck world. They probably won't ever go broody. They were selected not to because a setting duck isn't a busy laying duck. You can incubate them on your own if you want babies, or stick them under any broody hen! Mine never went broody in their whole lives...made lots of good eggs to eat though!

Ok thanks for the help. And actually the one that is burying the eggs in the wood shavings, is a golden 300 hybrid. They are very similar to khaki campbells. The other female is a khaki campbell.

Good news, the Golden 300 has been laying on the eggs all day! Even when I let them out to go foraging she stayed in on the eggs.

I had a hard time getting m Khaki Campbells to brood too. I ended up having to incubate the eggs. You might too but believe it or not I've had Silkies hatch duck eggs before! Maybe you need help from them.
