Hello I have a 3 week old silkie. One day he just became lethargic for no reason. Everyone around him was doing fine then for an entire day all he would do is close his eyes and won't even run away when I carry him. Can anyone help me? He isn't sneezing or anything. I separated him from the rest of the group but he won't eat and I have to help him drink.

I would go get some Corid (amprollium, Ampromed) from your local feed store (cattle section) and start him on some. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5 days. It won't hurt to treat the other birds as well. Coccidiosis can show up about this age, and the symptoms are lethargy, hunched posture, not eating, and diarrhea or blood in droppings. Until you can get the medicine, give him some plain yogurt and water with SaveAChick or electrolytes. Try to get him to drink from a dropper or dip his beak into water. Did the chicks come from a breeder or the hatchery? Keep him warm.
