why are only some of my eggs fertile???

So I introduced a Roo about 11 days ago. Everyone is getting along well, I have seen him cover two of my 9 hens. I have one egg confirmed fertile (cracked it and checked). I want my white leghorn to lay a fertile egg, since my roo is a white leghorn roo. I cracked open yesterday's egg today (which was hard because eggs are few these days and I didn't want to bust it if it wasn't fertile), and it was NOT fertile. So why are some of my hens already laying fertile eggs and some not? Has he just not covered the leghorn hens yet? If not, will he, and why hasn't he already? How long will it take? I need them to get busy! lol I am saving up for the incubator and I don't want to run the whole incubator for 5 fertile eggs lol

How many hens are there total? How old is the roo and how old are the hens? He may not have coveted them because they won't allow him to yet, because he favors the others, because there are to many hems to allow consistent coverage of them all, or any number of other things. Give it time (weeks, not days) and if it still spent improve and you want focused breeding you would be best served to have him and the hens you want coveted in s breeding pen.
 
I am in the process of separating my hens by the roo I want them with. I have my marans in the marans pen but haven't finished my ameraucana pen yet, so those girls are still in the white leghorn roo's pen. he has 8 hens right now, which I thought was the ideal number? He is 1 yr old, the white leghorns are about 2 years old, but I noticed they are still a bit feisty with him. I think they just haven't submitted to him yet, but hopefully will soon. At least i'll have some BCM and some barred rock x white leghorns for the incubator but I want those dang leghorn eggs soooo bad. I think wanting my chickens to get laid must be how high school boys feel going through puberty!! lol!! :)
