Thought I'd share the Christmas rope light/brooder idea again. This rope is warm to the touch and as you can see the chicks love it. I wound it on top of a piece of cardboard with a cut off box in top. Chicks are 3 days old if that and barn is 70* at night. I had to take them back from broody hen as she unfortunately died yesterday.

That's a good idea.

What did she die from?

Sorry to bother again but two eggs are rocking again. Much more so. Humidity is at 37% and temp at 99.6. Im on day 17. Lockdown early?

It wouldn't hurt. Just raise the humidity dramatically. Rocking eggs doesn't necessarily mean hatching is imminent.

I do sell chicks, I have Rhodebars, English Lavender Orpingtons, light Brahma's and then some barnyard mixes from my mixed flock.

How do you like the Orpington's. What age do they start laying and how many?

I love them!! Mine started laying at about 8 months old. I don't know if your asking how many I have or how many eggs so I will answer both. I only have one hen and she will lay about 4-5 eggs a week. The past few days have been hot so she hasn't laid.

I live in Tennessee.

Oh,I won't get to by chickens from you,I live in maine, hehe.

I believe she was too old to be broody. I'm not sure of that. Approximately 4 years. She was very tired at the 20th day. She was getting on and off the nest for food and water.

Much better than mine. They took a year to start laying. Then they did very well. Your right about the heat. Not liking it.

I have a line on fully automatic 96 egg incubators from China.
I have no idea how much shipping is but there's a price break if I buy 30 or more.
The lid is transparent and runs on 12V,110V, 220V-240V or 12V&220V
Eggs turn every 2 hours, fully digital with a hatching days counter, turning counter and humidity automatically controlled and filled without opening.
