Well I'm back for a minute (pouring down rain outside) and I saw your post. I actually made the controller an entirely separate unit from the bator. It is not the stc-1000, but it looks exactly like it and reads in degrees F. I chose that because the celcius had a window of 1*C and the Fahrenheit had a window of 1*F. So slightly less variance. This is the one I ordered.

The LED lights I used actually came in a 5 Meter roll also ordered from amazon a couple years ago (made some lights for some fish tanks) and had leftover. They required soldering little bitty tabs and wires and it was actually kind of a pain. Walmart in the automotive section has these for sale (cut and wired) and they do have white (usually) and are trimmable. They can get pricey depending on how long you want them but they are available there. The 5 Meter strip did have a connector already on one end, but being I needed several strips I had to actually solder them together. So if you did order the whole roll you could cut it off where you need it and use the wires provided but if you wanted to do more than one soldering new wires on the new pieces would be necessary.
