Morning Liz

And the nut that was flying the drone while the fire was going on was arrested. Retardant planes can't fly with drones in area. I think he's been released. He apologized for flying it. Was just taking pictures he said.
glad he was taken care of

I did get an amazing photo of an older Harley yesterday while picking up spent grain at the brewery. Seems the cook next door rides it. He got it from a doctor. It's 18 years old and in
very good shape. Have to find a way to fuzz out the plate and show you.
only 18? mine is 40 yrs old

Morning All!

awwwww

We wore military uniforms, every day all 4 years. Depending on the day, the uniform would change all the way from more casual - similar to khakis all the way to dress whites.
The only time we didn't wear ties was when the weather got into the 90s, Only a couple rooms and the cafeteria were air conditioned. The rest of classes were HOT!
We had formations and inspections every morning on the football field. Shoes highly polished, belt buckle, shirt and blouse brass had to be highly shined. Shirt and slacks had to be neatly pressed. Hair couldn't touch your ears or collar. All buttons needed to be buttoned at all times. A shoe scuff or a fingerprint on a belt buckle would be 2 demerits, an unbuttoned button would be 1 demerit, hair too long or needing a shave could be up to 5 demerits. Almost impossible to keep the shine on the shoes while walking through the dewy grass on the way to formation.
Any teacher could issue demerits for all sorts of infractions including any problem with the uniform.
Demerits were walked off carrying an M1 marching back and forth on the football field. 1/2 hour for each demerit. The about face at each end of the field had to be sharply executed. Present arms at the end, about face, shoulder arms and march the length of the field again. This was my experience with high school.
gadzooks! no thanks!

You're right. It was so much easier for me than the other draftees and enlistees. I already knew how to march, I could already disassemble and assemble an M-16, I already knew the General Orders, Code of Conduct, Chain of Command. I already knew the maximum effective range of the AN/PRC-6 and AN/PRC-25 radios.
The only thing I had to learn was the Chain of Command for USAREUR and 5th Army.
I'm not sure if I would have made it without knowing those things first.
I never had to do a pushup for not knowing one of those things. Everybody else was knocking out 50 all the time.

I hated the army too. 2 more years of my life sucking.

Then I hated Ford, 32 more years of my life sucking.
