The following isn't a discussion of politics but I thought what I heard yesterday was funny enough to share.

When poll results are reported and 2 contestants are close together, they always say the numbers are within the 4% + or - margin of error.

There's a company that tests poll questions to see whether they should be included in the poll. One question that was asked to a control group was, "Have you ever been decapitated?"  4% of the respondents said yes.
Apparently the reason for the margin of error.

Seb_Nov1507_N43.jpg

OMG you got me!!!!  what is that thing!!!!! I want it!!!! or several!!!!  :love   @sarasweatman

 Sorry Sally, but I've been horse obsessed much longer than duck or chicken or goat or fill in the blank here!

I just read (on this site) that you can very gently pull their wattles and their mouth will open. Will that work? It sounds like it would hurt her, so I'm not sure.

That method works fine for me.

I've got 6 Cayuga eggs left that haven't hatched. Two have large pip holes and I'm thinking they will hatch tonight. Two more just have their first small pip. Two more have pipped in the last hour but on the wrong end! The last Buff duck was the same way so hopefully these two make it out as well :fl I can still see them all wiggling when I candle so at least I know they're still alive!

Thanks for checking! I feel like I have a high tolerance for hot objects, my husband touched it for a second and said it felt like a hot pan on the stove. I went ahead and got an extension cord, dimmer switch, and outlet box and made my own 'temp control knob' so I can lower it. Just shocked it would be that hot. I was supposed to get a temp gun from the Mac Man today, but he didnt show. Definitely gonna check it when I get the gun.

I am way behind in posts, I'm sure you've seen answers to this somewhere in the 300 posts I haven't yet read, but I have 3 of them. All 3 are WAY too hot for me to touch for long periods of time, but the babies LOVE THEM. My chicks are way quieter and happier than when I had heat lamps. They also sleep all night, they don't really start making noise until the sun comes up. The only problem i have with them is that I have to pick up the whole plate to see the chicks, and they they won't MOVE when I try to put it back down.

It's pretty darn hot but I can keep my hand on it for at least 10 seconds. It may not be up to temperature yet though.
Keep in mind, chicks aren't putting bare skin on it. They have feathers for insulation.
I don't think I could keep my hand there for a full 10 seconds....but I"m a wimp.

Have a great day! let me know if you need more cows :)

Quote: Me too, so I learned to add a fake egg or two so they would keep using the same nest. Sometimes worked (not always...)

Long busy day, and I need to get the resting chickens into the freezer this evening. I think I might need a nap first - soooooo tired...

I wasn't offered ducks from Liz either. :(
I don't really want them laying there. However, I would love to know if my Pekin moved her nest, or isn't laying.

Eggs due in 18 hours. Now 8 of the 18 eggs are pipped.

This will be the second successful hatch of a broken egg. This batch's broken is pipping.
I sealed the break immediately with liquid skin bandage. The first few times I tried to hatch broken eggs I either used beeswax or nail polish. They all failed (not necessarily because of the sealant).

Another thing I'd like to share for staggered hatchers in a still air incubator. The mature eggs are generating heat while the newer eggs aren't.
The side with the eggs about to hatch is at 102.1 in one corner. The opposite corner with the newer eggs is at 98.1. Just because there isn't a fan.
