Was this the temp on the incubator, or the thermometer(s) in the egg tray? It will depend on how long the lid was open as to the effect it'll have on the eggs. The heater should have gone to 100% once the temp dropped that low, so it should have been blowing warm air across the eggs during that time. I wouldn't worry too much about it... what's done is done and you have to go forward from there. What do you think caused the lid to pop open? Did you get around to adjusting the turner arm so it doesn't push the tray against the ends?

I haven't adjusted it. The incubator temp said 72, others all said somewhere in the 70's. I have no idea why it popped open, though I do remember waking up from a bang last night and going back to sleep.

Agreed, that is a very nice brooder! I possess very minimal carpentry skills, so i resort to modified pallet getups or large totes with hardware cloth.
Thanks, JO! My dad was a carpenter, and so was I for many years... so some of it is still burned into memory.

Do you have any critters in the house that could have knocked it open? Cats playing, or something like that? I've seen my top slightly gapped open when the egg turner jammed against the end, but never had it "pop" open.

I have 7 dogs, but they were all put away and only the little tiny ones and the really old ones were inside, and there is no way they jumped 3 feet. They were penned up anyway... I have no idea.
