It looks a bit swollen to me... do you have any antiseptic? Ointment w/out pain reliever or clear iodine, something similar? I would dab a bit on, to be safe... see if you can give it a dribble of water, they dehydrate quicker than chicks... in the brooder now or still in the bator?

Biggest difference with hatching ducks compared to chicks is ducks take a LOT longer to hatch... they take their sweet time, lol...
I have some colloidal silver gel. I think that's the only antibiotic type gel or cream that I have without a pain reliever. It's still in the incubator right now. Should I give it some poultry drench and water while it's still in there, or just let it rest and finish drying off?

I think the colloidal will work, but I'm no expert about it and animals... I would try a drop along the side of bill and see if it will take it... if not, don't force and wait til it gets active...

I just put some coconut oil on it for now since it works for animals. If it needs something stronger I'll use the colloidal since I've used it with my birds before. I'll see if it'll take some poultry drip here in a little bit. It seems to be very slowly gaining strength. I had to externally pip for it, and it took well over 48 hours to hatch. I had to assist quite a bit, and then I had to go back late last night and get the remaining bottom of the shell off of it because the membrane had dried to one side of it's back end.

I meant vites and water dropped on side of bill, not the silver, lol...

48 hrs from internal pip? That's not overly long for Calls... my last batch was 24/28 and took 3, or was it 4?, very long and exhausting days, lol...

As long as it keeps showing improvement, then that is good... :)

This is my first call to hatch. My last hatch didn't go well at all. Both hatches were shipped eggs though. I had another one trying to hatch, but it was still alive one minute, and a few minutes later it was gone. It looked really pretty too. Next time I'll know not to freak out when the veins aren't absorbing as quickly as they would with a chick.

Good luck at the show! I hear there's going to be a ton of birds there, probably a good thing I'm not going I can see my car filled with birds and my savings account empty!

Thank you. I wasn't going to bring an extra cage, but I had birds I had to drop off...might come home with some more birds
