Quote: Cool. May I ask - what method did you use to put in the posts, such that you can pull them back up again? I'm assuming not concrete. (Just trying to learn.) One of these days I may end up with less temporary and more permanent enclosures... (Then again, we have so much rock here, maybe I should just stick to T-posts.)

Quote: Oh yes you were...

You were so excited, you just couldn't help but talk about it before you got them, and then after you ordered them, and then when they were in transit, and then unboxing pics... at least enough so in the thousands of posts on this thread I remembered (a miracle in and of itself - I had to buy one of those Tile things since I can't find my keys most days). I am not hatching again until fall at the earliest, so I have to throw myself into vicarious enjoyment of everyone else's hatches.

Here's hoping there rest make it to lock down. 20 is a decent number to get started with. What else do you keep, other than Barred Rocks?

Haven't tried a different battery yet; planning to tomorrow.
When the old battery failed to do anything the other day, I went directly to the battery cables with the jumper cables....battery unhooked. Engine started fine that way.
Unhooked jumpers & hooked the same battery up again, and it fired right up...no problem
Half hour later I threw a belt; pulled mower around back & shut it down to work on belt...hasn't cranked since
I neglected to mention...that same battery showed full power on a multi-meter this morning, but still won't crank. Not even a clicking in the solenoid

That's very strange. I think I read where you had replaced the solenoid, so it clicking when you try to start the engine? Have you tested the voltage at the solenoid when it doesn't do anything? Double-checked the ground cable connection on the frame? Are there any safety switches not making connection that may prevent it from cranking? Can't really think of anything else that might be causing your problem... sorry.

Good to see you! :frow Yup - Just came back in. I had to deconstruct my Coop of Sadness and my Frat House PVC Coop - the PVC coop was essentially PVC, hardware cloth and LOTS of zip ties. LOTS OF ZIP TIES. Like, it took me about 2 hours to cut them all. :th Then chicken chores, then quality time with my littles, including little Joan Jett (I name my chickens like I have named my cats in the past - they remain unnamed until it is "revealed" to me). This funky little girl has a very messy, nearly black crest (she reminded me of Joan Jett, hence the name). She's been posing for her new album cover: How is it that I got so much done today and still feel like I didn't get much done?:barnie I think I may need to go to bed early and just start over tomorrow... - Ant Farm
Don't be so hard on yourself.... I need a Joan Jett in my life. Hugs for you for a better day tomorrow

Only safety switch is under the seat, & it's been disconnected since the day I bought it.
No solenoid clicking; nothing at all....like there's no battery.
Full voltage into the solenoid; nothing coming out, but when you short across the posts with a screwdriver the flywheel spins.
Grounding's been checked multiple times...even wire brushed the frame & cable end.

I gotta go to bed, before my ace hits the keyboard & my eyelids slam shut.

Joey, if you come up with anything, just leave me a post or PM; I'll check in the morning. Thanks
G'nite, y'all
