Hopefully she doesn't micro manage you. I hated those managers.
.

That doesn't work on either of us. :hmm When I first retired she would leave a 'honey do' list on the table each day. I would crumple it up and throw it on the floor each day. After a bit of this, I asked, "How are those honey do lists working ?" Her reply, "Apparently not real well." Together we decided on one project each day. :lau

Maybe it will get easier when I get older? Maybe it is something with my generation and instant gratification? But also personal of course cause both my brothers don't spend much. My older one is extremely frugal and into making money. Stocks, working hard. Etc. Younger one isn't as into making money or at least not as like a hobby hah but also doesn't spend much.

Although older one does spend ridiculous amounts on coats, skis, etc. But doesnt spend much otherwise.

Younger one has been travelling tons lately.

But all of that is better than accumulating "stuff" that just collects dust.

And it's hard because I usually just buy what I want, which I think possibly stemmed from parents paying for everything? But even now that I have my own money, I still do it. I am especially bad about going into stores and seeing a bunch of stuff that I didn't know I needed and buying it. I need to at least stop that

Yep, scrimp and do without until the nest egg is built up. Hey Kelsey, guess what I ate a LOT of when I bought my first house! LOTS of egg salad sandwiches. I didn't have chickens then but eggs are CHEAP.

Good point, thanks. I eat out wayyyy too much. Working on not.

I hate egg salad so idk if that'd work but I do see your point. Gotta find something cheap.

I do like chicken salad, tuna salad, ramens, etc. And plenty of other cheap stuff but I just have always despised hard boiled eggs and cannot get past the smell and taste.

Might be worth trying though

But also vinyls and the whole "limited" merch trick whether available for limited time or limited amount or whatever
Don't get sucked into the marketing hype. Their job is to get you to buy stuff, they don't care that you don't need it, can't afford it, etc, just hit the potential buyers emotional buttons and make them think they NEEEEEED it NOOOOOW. "But wait, there's more, if you call now you also get ....." Who can pass up a deal like that?

And WRT instant gratification. Yeah it might be somewhat generational. WAY back when most of us were young
  • There were maybe 3 TV channels. You waited until the appropriate time and day to watch a favorite show, even reruns ... IF you had a TV. No recording it to watch at a time more convenient to you. No skipping past the commercials.
  • No binge watching an entire season of a show you just discovered.
  • Wanted to talk to someone when they weren't home? TOO BAD, no cell phones, no texting, have to wait. Leave a message if someone is home to answer your call, your friend would probably call back later or the next day.
  • Wanted to listen to music while out doing stuff? Better like whatever the radio station is playing on your transistor radio. No portable devices for your playlist until the Sony Walkman in the late 70s.
  • The closest we had to "Amazon" was catalogs. No search, click, arrive at your door in a day or 3. And new items didn't hit the catalogs every day, heck some catalogs only came out once or twice a year.
  • etc, etc, etc.
Yet we managed to live through it :D

You don't need to! If you don't like them, don't eat them. The concept is "when money is short, you go cheap and do without".

My dove eggs have pipped! I'm so excited - I so miss having babies around. It's a nice, warm day for them to hatch. Its more like spring than winter. I'm about to install a basket under their 'nest', which is a big, hang on feeder, just in case a baby decides to topple out at some point (sounds like that can happen). Hopefully Tilly and Dilly will be good parents as the first week the chicks are extremely difficult to feed because the parents produce 'crop milk' that is difficult to replicate. The hand rearing formula I use does have a variation for dove chicks but I'd rather not have to try (or buy any, finances being what they are). The success rate doesn't sound very good. And life is a bit chaotic.

Expect photos but baby doves aren't the prettiest babies. :wee

You're exactly right, never realized that. I always figured it supported the bands and some of it probably does and when they're real small it goes directly to them but when they're big enough to use a third party merch site like MerchNow or something, I guarantee most of that money probably goes to that website and/or the label. I came to a realization one day when I got to thw home page and realized there were several bands with the same exact merch ideas. Like for example one time there were like acid wash shirts or something and other bands were selling the exact same thing just in different colors and obviously their label instead. And it was then I realized that the bands probably didn't come up with these ideas and rather, I bet the vendor or label came to them and said hey let's do this and asked a bunch of bands so THEY could make money on the "limited" merch.

Thankfully I'm not into TV sales but merch I'm always like oooohhhh it's so PRETTY.

I actually remember some of that cause I was born in '94 so we didn't have Netflix or Tevo or whatever. I remember when tevo first came out and it was still really expensive so we couldn't get it but I wanted to. I think it let you record TV. Idk about fast forwarding or pausing live TV. We had CD players. So bulky and inconvenient that now I can't imagine using that. I do still love CDs though in the car but also, it was kind of annoying having to constantly change CDs to change songs. Now I have a bazillion different playlists with hundreds of songs and tons of different genres often in the same playlist so I can jump around. And we still had housephones then so I still remember calling some of my best friends or them calling me and we would ask "is so and so home?" And they would either get them or say no sorry. And sometimes I'd talk to the parents a bit. Heck, I remember sometimes my friend would say I need to get off the phone, my mom or dad needs to use it. We also didn't really have internet or cell phones. I think I'm lucky because I'm kind of a mix of both. We didn't have as much instant gratification then so I still somewhat learned it but now we do so need to relearn ha but kids nowadaya are just born with instant everything all the time

And speaking of binging shows, i am doing that now lol
